brings up a preference panel that lets you choose to share what you're listening to with your friends as your status.

The most common reason for a player not being supported by FoxyTunes is that there is no way to externally control it from another application. Many media players have documented control interfaces, while others are just stand alone applications that cannot be controlled by other programs (like FoxyTunes). Sometimes Messenger locks some files on your machine that FoxyTunes needs to update to install itself. Restarting Messenger will free up those files so that you can re-install the FoxyTunes plug-in with no errors. If you try this and still have issues, please try this.
The FoxyTunes for Yahoo! Messenger plug-in encountered a hung process, locked files, or some other unpleasantry. Restarting your computer could fix this, but don't do it just for us. If a reboot doesn't get everything working smoothly again, please try this.
Re-installing the plug-in will force FoxyTunes to be uninstalled and re-installed from scratch. This should fix any issues that you were having. Give it one more shot and if that doesn't work, please try this.
