Summary: Good Alternative to Winamp

Details: If you're looking for a good alternative to WinAmp, try RealPlayer 10.5 (the latest version). It supports a wide variety of files (including the popular .pls), and has great sound quality, plus the "Annabelle The Sheep" visulaization is pretty cool (hint: click on it). While it may not be as fancy as Winamp, it's a good one.

Summary: Best all-around media player

Details: Realplayer has been my default media player for a while because it covers so many different formats and has a good basic interface. The PerfectPlay and Live Pause options that were added in V.10 are wonderful -- like Tivo for streaming audio. You just have to be careful when you install the player or Real Networks will steal every format on your computer and bombard you with ads. Anyone savvy enough to read this list will know how to avoid that.

Pros: Lots of formats, good interface, cool "Tivo"-like features for audio streams, skinable

Cons: Aggressive advertising, fumbles weak feeds occasionally

Summary: audio/video player under Linux

Details: RealPlayer 10 is, at the moment, the standard on most web pages, if one doesn't use Windows or MacOS. It provides reasonable performance and was supported already under Mozilla 1.x so I don't see why it should disappear under FireFox. I find it very strange that FoxyTunes supports RealPlayer under Windows but not under Linux!

Details: Multiple audio/video formats and compatibility with web site clips make the Real system a fully featured alternative to the ad-ware ridden Windows Media Player. Any ad-ware slipping through from Real Systems is readily found and removed with free Ad-Aware unlike the insidious insertion of this type malware from MS.

Summary: This ad plastered, slow, ugly, spyware player is one of the worst i have ever used. Get "RealAlternative"!

Cons: Ads, slow, ugly, spies on its user, comes from a company that sucks

Details: i really like this tool, but it has little functionality with real player. I have to Windows Media player with it, but I not only don't like the player; I also don;t like Microsoft and their monopoly.
