Rhapsody 2.1 |
Summary: Could be better, but I use it an awful lot
Details: I use it primarily for checking out new bands that I haven't heard before before I shell out cash for their cd. It gets used about 70 percent of the time. The other 30 I use Windows Media Player 10 for stuff I already own.
Pros: Listen to almost any cd at any time as many times as I want
Cons: Interface is a little clunky
Period used: July 2004-present

Summary: Stream music and burn for .79 a song. Lots of music available.
Details: Rhapsody's Mini-Player doesn't always work, so there is often no way to change music without switching to the Rhapsody window. Otherwise, I love it.
Pros: Great audio quality, good playlist setup, etc.
Cons: MiniPlayer is grumpy, doesn't play mp3s
Period used: Almost a year now.
Other products used: Winamp (awesome for mp3s), WMP (eh, better than it used to be but I like winamp better)

Rhapsody 2.1 |
Summary: better than iTunes for sure
Details: Rhapsody lets you FIND music - SHARE music - not just buy it. Even if you never burn a single track ... it's like having a music store WHERE ALL THE DISCS HAVE BEEN OPENED. Being able to listen to so much music, find threads, share it with friends - that's what music mostly always has been about and what Rhapsody returns it to. That makes it my choice.
Pros: a music store where you can listen to anything
Cons: the screen needs to be more open, see where you've been easier
Period used: 2 months

Summary: It's not super impresive, but it does it's job well.
Details: There aren't any advanced features (like an equalizer), but it does an admirable job at keeping a constant music stream going- even over a *very* poor dial-up connection. Their music selection is lacking in a few areas, but for the most part, when I want to find a specific track, I can.
Pros: Respectable music collection; excellent streaming capabilities; burn purchased tracks to CD without annoying DRM systems.
Cons: Lack of an equalizer; unable to download purchased tracks to hard drive directly.

Summary: Rhapsody has a huge selection of music
Details: Rhapsody is so much better than the other subscription-based music services I've tried. I just wish FoxyTunes could control it. There are so many songs available, even from small labels and solo people. I've found songs from people in my own neighborhood on Rhapsody. Plus I can transfer all the music I want to my Palm Treo 650 to take with me on the go. If FoxyTunes would support it, I would be good as good. I'll just not use FoxyTunes until it supports my music player.
