Summary: The Best

Details: Basicly, if you want a player with professional features utilising easablity, then iTunes is it. It has a wide, uncluttered interface, allowing you to see your 'Library' at a glance, with the option of having 'Browse' turned on (that shows three boxes above the library list; 'Genre', 'Artist', and 'Album'). If you want to make a playlist iTunes allows you to do it on the fly; simply select the songs, artist's, and/or albums (holding down the shift and/or alt buttons allows you to pick and choose easily what you want from your music archive) and drag them onto the 'Source' column on the left of iTunes. There, you have just made a playlist; if you want to rename it, click on it first, then click once again, and you can edit the name. There are other types of playlists (Smart Playlist) which you can use too. To burn CD's, make a playlist (even if it is just an album) and the browse button in the top right of iTunes changes to a 'Burn Disc' button when the new playlist is selected. The rest is self explanatory. You can eidt song information by right-clicking on it, or edit a whole list of songs by selecting them all and editing data (such as songs from an album can be selected together and edited so a single name, like the album name, can appear on all the songs). Just check what iTunes has to offer, there is so much functionality that it is hard to describe them all. With my copy of iTunes, I installed a safe (non-malicious) third party plugin called Multi-Plugin (v2.3.2) which allows you to skin iTunes and adds some more functions (including adding information above the 'status display'. It is a neat plugin, and enhances your player.

Pros: Easability, Reliability, Functionality, Aesthetically (Multi-Plugin especially) are all optimal and high-class

Cons: Bad editing of pictures; you need to add pictures to your songs individualy rather than selecting a list of songs and editing album art together

Period used: Whenever my PC is on, and now that 'FoxyTunes' exists, far more usage (I run virtual desktops - 'Dexpot v1.3' - so FoxyTunes has saved me from continuously going back and forth desktops to play songs in iTunes)

Summary: Ultimate FREE Music Player

Details: Sure, iTunes is iPod centric, but even if all you want to do is rip, play, and burn music on your PC, iTunes is the way to go. Easily share your library to all of your LAN, and very easy to use. There are even 3rd party add ons to allow you to sync other MP3 players to iTunes.

Pros: Free, Simple to use, Networking built in

Cons: iPod only unless you add on 3rd Party software

Details: one of apples only good products...itunes and ipod are the only things that aren't a complete waste.

Pros: easy with ipod

Cons: after changing songs IF itunes is not top window, all old text will stay on screen, aswell as new text overlapping. Have been waiting for this bug to be fixed for a year.

Summary: good stuff

Details: the only thing i would change is to be able to import songs from an iPod into your library. everything else get a great rating from me. this program is so easy that even my parents can use it and i have to teach them how to use the VCR to record TV shows.

Pros: Ease of use, Visualizations, fast speeds during importing and burning, organization scheme of library

Summary: iTunes (apple got it right)

Details: As a long-time user of WinAmp and SoundJam (iTunes predecessor) I've got to say that iTunes is BY FAR the best MP3 player out there. I have both an IBM and a Mac and he transition from one to the other is flawless. The one add-on I found to be useful is a new equalizer add-on available for purchase from www.octiv.com. It's a little pricy, but worth it.

Pros: Too many to mention

Cons: Equalizer settings don't work on iPods. Can't use Napster (Napsters's fault)

Details: I only started to use this player for my iPod, but then found it was a lot easier to organise and play the music i wanted than WMP.
