Ulrich Roth (born December 18, 1954 in Düsseldorf, Germany), also known as Uli Jon Roth, is a German virtuoso guitarist. In the 1970s he was the lead guitarist and one of the main songwriters for the rock band Scorpions in which time they debuted five albums, including Tokyo Tapes, which sold almost one million copies. When he left Scorpions in 1978, he formed his own band named Electric Sun with which he debuted three albums including Earthquake in 1978, Fire Wind in 1980 and Beyond the Astral Skies in 1984.
