Wakeford has long been influential in the neo-folk/dark-folk scenes that continue to flourish throughout Europe under numerous appellations, including "Pagan folk", "apocalyptic folk", "folk noir", "Gothic folk", etc. All of these labels have been used to describe the folk aspect of Wakeford's oeuvre with Sol Invictus. He has composed Classical music whilst recording outside the framework of Sol Invictus. He has subsequently brought transformative concepts into the familiar terrain of his principle group.
