This Providence is a band that originated near Seattle, Washington. Originally called Sunday Best, the band changed its name to This Providence after finding out that there was a band in California already known as Sundays

This Providence is a band that originated near Seattle, Washington. Originally called Sunday Best, the band changed its name to This Providence after finding out that there was a band in California already known as Sundays Best. The band currently consists of members Dan Young (Vocals and Guitar), Phil Cobrea (Bass and Vocals), Gavin Phillips (Guitar), and Ryan Tapert (Drums).

Although many of its songs have a Christian undertone, This Providence is careful not to be pigeonholed as a Christian band. On the band's website they state "We are all christians. Our faith is extremely important to us, but by no means would we consider ourselves part of the 'Christian music industry'. We won't deny our faith, but along with our beliefs in Christ, we also believe that Christianity is not a style of music, and to limit ourselves to such a title would be wrong for us."
