Story of the Year is a Punk rock/Metal-alternative band originally formed in St. Louis in 1996. Initially named Big Blue Monkey, in 2002 they changed their name to Story of the Year because a blues group had already taken the name Big Blue Monkey

After the band was formed, recorded a few demos and might have recorded some EPs. Although, they didn't release their first album Page Avenue until September of 2003. Their first single from that album was "Until The Day I Die" written by singer Dan Marsala. It first received radio airplay around July/August 2003 on stations like KROQ and sold hundreds of copies worldwide.
