Stefano Donaudy (Palermo, 1879 – Naples, 1925) studied with Guglielmo Zuelli. His brother, Alberto Donaudy (1880-1941), write many of the texts and libretti set by Stefano. Stefano wrote the opera La Fiamminga and a set of songs titled Arie di Stile Antico. He also wrote symphonic pieces and chamber music. His opera (La Fiamminga) was premiered in 1922 and received poorly. Discouraged, he stopped composing. Possibly his most popular song, the beautiful O del mio amato ben, has been recorded by many perfomers, from Beniamino Gigli to Sumi Jo.
