Skepticism is a doom metal band from Finland. Formed in 1991, they are regarded as one of the pioneers of a sub-genre of doom metal called funeral doom. As of 2005 the band is active. They have contributed what is considered by some as the first real signs of progression in funeral doom since Thergothon, and one of best to ever expand on their genre and open horizons for new bands such as Shape of Despair to come into the genre. The only band which seems to be a true rival to this funeral doom giant is none other than Until Death Overtakes Me started by the one and only Stijn van Cauter.
