Shabba Ranks was born Rexton Rawlston Fernando Gordon on January 17, 1966. He worked with English singer Maxi Priest, American rappers KRS One and Chubb Rock, reggae singers Cocoa Tea, Crystal, and Mykal Rose, R&B singer Johnny Gill and Rock & Roll pioneer Chuck Berry. His biggest hit outside the regular reggae communities was "Mr. Loverman", allthough in Jamaica and for reggae lovers this was not his best work. Other more mentioned tracks by reggae enthusiasts are "Respect", "No mama man", "Get up stand up and rock" and "Caan Dun".
