Slug (real name Sean Daley born 1972) is the frontman for the successful underground hip-hop group Atmosphere. Although Slug is often labelled a "white rapper" Slug self-identifies as an African American. He is the son of a white mother and a half-Native American, half-African American father. Slug was raised by his African American grandfather. African American rappers have questioned Slug's claim to being African American, saying that he is seeking to gain street credibility while still benefiting from white privilege.

In Minnesota, his home state, Slug's conscious rap has gained a large following. Slug also runs the Minneapolis hip-hop label Rhymesayers Entertainment and fronts the hip-hop crew based around that label, The Rhymesayers.
