Saves the Day are classified as an emo/indie rock band from Princeton, New Jersey, known for its punk roots. Saves the Day formed in 1997. Using mid-90s groups, such as Lifetime, as their main influences, the band, along with the help of Chris Conley's lyrical writing ability, shot into the indie rock scene with Can't Slow Down released on Equal Vision Records. They continued to produce steady hits of power ballads and poppy anthems until their third full-length album, Stay What You Are, when they experimented with a more melodic sound. It is common knowledge that Conley and co. were into psychedelic drugs at the time they wrote it. Their last full length album, "In Reverie" disappointed many of their long-time fans for deviating from the cherished rock anthems of Saves the Day's previous albums, but showed Conley's growth as a songwriter. Conley has grown with his lyrics towards more varied subjects beyond the themes of love and relationships. They have planned their next release, titled Sound the Alarm, for the spring of 2006, and they have also begun touring in fall 2005 with Emanuel, The Early November, and Senses Fail.
