Active from 1979, his biggest hit was The Story of the Blues, released in 1982 which reached number 3 in the UK charts. He also had a top 20 hit with Come Back. Both songs were chosen by the late John Peel as his singles of the year. In 1986 he had a solo hit with Sinful!.
