The New Grand is a London, Ontario-based indie rock band. Known for their explosive live shows, they released two full length albums on Sonic Unyon Records. Original members, Michael "Good Burger" Clive, T. D. Smith, and Patrice Von Morgan met in high school in the early 1990s. They were joined by guitarist, "Little Slippers" Scott. Scott, a part Cree, learned his instrument from his abusive alcoholic uncle, Chief Wassupman. Their first album, "The New Grand", appeared in 1996 and was met with rave reviews and modest sales. A whirlwind year of non-stop touring, industry shows in New York, Toronto, and Austin, and a cross-Canada tour with Treblecharger followed. The New Grand released their second album on Sonic Unyon in 1998 entitled "Incognito" which represented a stylistic change for the group. Incognito was an explosive, muddy, mess, that came accompanied with rumours of decadence and spiraling drug abuse. News of Good Burger's recent conversion to Wicca splashed across Canadian newspapers in the autumn of 2005.
