Neneh Cherry (born March 10, 1964 in Stockholm) is a musician who blended hip hop with other influences to some mainstream success. Her mother is the painter and textile artist Moki Cherry, and her father is the African-Swedish musician Amahdu Jah. Her stepfather, Don Cherry, was an influential jazz musician, and her brother Eagle Eye Cherry is also a musician of some interntional fame while her sister Titiyo has had a career as a singer in Sweden.

Neneh Cherry lived the first years of her life in the small Swedish town Hässleholm, before the family started following her stepfather on his tours. Neneh began performing after dropping out of school and moving to London, where she joined the punk rock band The Cherries.
