MURS, an underground emcee from Mid-City Los Angeles, was born Nick Carter on March 16, 1978 (3/16, hence his use of 3:16 imagery). He is signed to Definitive Jux Records and is a member of both the Living Legends crew and the 3 Melancholy Gypsies.

MURS has several released solo records: F'Real, MURS Rules the World, MURS is My Best Friend, Good Music, Varsity Blues, The End of the Beginning, and MURS 3:16- The 9th Edition. He has collaborated with many artists including Shock G, Humpty Hump of Digital Underground, Slug & Ant of Atmosphere, El-P, Aesop Rock, RJD2, Hieroglyphics, Little Brother & 9th Wonder, E-40, John Cena, Chingo Bling, Jean Grae, Freestyle Fellowship, DJ Z-Trip, P.U.T.S., and many more. He has stated that he wishes to work with as many artists as possible in his career to help avoid creative stagnation.
