Métal Urbain are one of the first French punk groups, heavily influenced by The Clash and The Sex Pistols on one hand and on the other by an electro approach related to "Metal Machine Music" of Lou Reed. They used a drum machine, and were the only punks to do so. They mixed subversive lyrics with a radical image.
Métal Urbain were formed in Paris in 1977 by Eric Débris, Clode Panik, Zip Zinc and Rikky Darling, thereafter replaced by Pat Luger and Hermann Schwartz.
