Melanie Thornton (born May 13, 1967 Charleston, South Carolina, died November 24, 2001 Bassersdorf (Zurich), Switzerland) was an Black American-German singer who fronted the Eurodance group La Bouche who formed hits such as "Be My Lover" and "Sweet Dreams" in the mid-1990s. She forged a moderately successful solo career in Germany before her death in November 2001. Her hits include "Sweet Dreams," "Love How You Love Me," "Wonderful Dream" and "Be My Lover."
She died in a plane crash (Crossair flight 3597) near Bassersdorf (Zurich), Switzerland at age 34.
