MC Serch (born Michael Berrin) is an American rapper and former member of the crew 3rd Bass. After two extremely acclaimed albums with the other members of his crew (DJ Richie Rich and Pete Nice), The Cactus Album (1989) and Derelicts of Dialect (1991), Serch launched a solo career with Return of the Product (1992, Def Jam), which launched a hit single with "Back to the Grill", an extension of Main Source's song and featuring Nas. Serch, who served as Nas's manager, also collaborated with the rapper on Illmatic, which is one of the most critically well-respected albums of the 1990s. Serch then retired from performing and ran a promotions company (Serch Light Productions), as well as becoming a radio host. He has been the Host of "Serch In The AM" on Detroit Urban Radio Station WJLB since 2001. He is the second white (and first Jewish) DJ at WJLB. He appeared in Spike Lee's "Bamboozled."
