Martin Crandall is the keyboardist of The Shins, who also plays bass guitar during some live performances, allowing fellow band member Dave Hernandez to play electric guitar. This has happened as The Shins move away from the keyboard-drenched reverb of their debut album Oh, Inverted World towards the cleaner guitar driven sounds of their current release, Chutes Too Narrow. Crandall originated from Albuquerque, New Mexico, but now resides along with the rest of the band in Portland, Oregon. Martin's girlfriend of five years - also from Albuquerque - is fashion model Elyse Sewell, who rose to fame on reality tv show America's Next Top Model.
