Mark Lowry is an American comedian and singer, born in Houston, Texas on June 24, 1958. From 1988 to 2002, he was the baritone in the Gaither Vocal Band.

Lowry attended Liberty University (called Liberty College at the time) from 1975 to 1980. He intended to get a business degree, but he felt God was calling him into the music business, and he ended up singing in every independent Baptist church in the United States. Right after graduation, Lowry's agent, Roy Morgan, booked him in 43 cities in 41 days.
