Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards are the side project band of Lars Frederiksen from Rancid. They are a hardcore, partying, nihilist punk rock outfit in the spirit and tradition of the Sex Pistols and The Clash. Their first album was self-titled; their second, Viking, was released on July 13, 2004.

Lars Frederiksen And The Bastards ‘Viking’ is the 2nd solo record produced by Tim Armstrong. After a year of traveling, Rancid ended their “Indestructible Tour” in Japan on February 16th 2004. From February 16-20th, 2004 Lars and Tim stayed in Tokyo to work on demo songs for a brand new Lars Frederiksen And The Bastards album. In addition, all the photography on the record was shot by Tim Armstrong .
