Jeremy Barnes may be best known as the drummer for Neutral Milk Hotel, a group whose two albums of distorted pop and homegrown orchestral balladry from 1995 and 1997 have had an immeasurable influence on the music scene of today. His next group, Bablicon, carried the idea of avant-garde percussion and improvisation to new amicable highs. He has also worked with Bright Eyes, Guignol, The Gerbils, and most recently, Broadcast. Last autumn(2003), he opened shows across North America for the Warp artists with his idiosyncratic one-man show, reappearing later in the evening to play drums for them.

Originally from Albuquerque, Mr Barnes recently relocated from Enderby in Leicestershire (via Prague) back to the mountains of New Mexico. Under his solo moniker, A Hawk and A Hacksaw, he has released two albums; A Hawk and A Hacksaw (2003) and Darkness at Noon (2005)
