John 'Jake' Burns (b. 21 February 1958 in Belfast) is a singer, guitarist and musician, and is best known as a member of Stiff Little Fingers. He wrote songs for the band such as Alternative Ulster, Suspect Device, Straw Dogs and At The Edge, sometimes in collaboration with other band members or their manager Gordon Ogilvie, although it is said that he is and always was the main songwriter in the group.

Stiff Little Fingers' debut album Inflammable Material entered the U.K. Charts as the highest new entry and, co-incidentally, the first ever completely independant album on 21st February 1979, coincidentally Jake Burns' 21st birthday.
