Iwan Fals is an Indonesian singer and songwriter. He was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, on September 3, 1961. He has released several dozen albums of mostly solo guitar-based material in a style said to be influenced by Bob Dylan. He is extremely popular in Indonesia, and most Indonesians will know at least some of his songs. He is known as a social observer and protest singer, although he has sung many songs about love and romance.

He has two children, Annisa Cikal Rambu Basae, Rayya Rambu Robbani. His third child, Galang Rambu Anarki, died on April 25th 1997 of asthma, with speculation of a morphine overdose (). Iwan Fals wrote an eponymously titled song for him following his death.
