Ian McDonald (b. 1946) was a member and producer of the progressive rock group called King Crimson, formed in 1969.

Prior to joining the group, McDonald served five years in the British Army as a bandsman. His music talent ranged from classical orchestra to dance bands to rock. He was also a member/founder of Gibraltar and Foreigner. He has been a session musician and appeared in the recording of Get It On (Bang a Gong) by T Rex. His latest record is Drivers Eyes in 1999.
