Hans Swarowsky (September 16, 1899, Budapest, Hungary - September 10, 1975, Salzburg, Austria) was a Hungarian conductor. He was also a professor of Conducting at the Vienna University of Music. This school produced many of the most famous conductors of both our times and of the past century, including Claudio Abbado, Jacques Delacote, Adam and Ivan Fischer, Jesus Lopez-Cobos, Zubin Mehta, Peter Schneider, and Bruno Weil. Swarowsky's lectures and essays were collected into the publication "Keeping Shape", which today serves as a bible for questions regarding performance and conducting.
