Gavin McGregor Rossdale (born October 30,1965 in Kilburn, London, England) was the lead singer and guitarist of the British rock group Bush. His parents are Barbara (who was born in Scotland) and Douglas Rossdale (a doctor of Russian Jewish descent); they divorced when he was eleven years old. He has a younger sister, Soraya, who taught him how to play the guitar, and an older sister, Lorraine. He is a former pupil of Westminster School.
Rossdale and Nigel Pulsford met in 1992, and together they formed Bush soon after. In 2004, Rossdale put Bush on the shelf and formed rock group Institute. Institute's first CD, entitled Distort Yourself, was released on September 13, 2005. The first single is called "Bullet-Proof Skin."
