Having been a student of both Aaron Copland and John Corigliano, Goldenthal is best known for his ability to blend various musical styles and techniques in original ways.

His work includes music for films such as Alien 3, Michael Collins, Heat and the Academy Award-winning score for Julie Taymor's Frida.
