dream is an all-female Japanese pop group which made its debut in 2000 with the single "Movin' On". The original group (1st generation) consisted of three women: Mai Matsumuro, Yu Hasebe and Kana Tachibana. dream remained this way until July 7, 2002 when Matsumuro graduated to a solo career and six new, younger members were added, which allowed people to draw comparisons between the new dream and another Japanese pop group, Morning Musume. dream remained an 8-member group until the graduation of member Risa Ai on March 28, 2004.

The group formed from the dram 2000 audition, produced by Max Matsuura (now president of dram).
