Down is a Southern heavy metal "supergroup" formed in 1991. After the release of the "NOLA" album in 1996 and subsequent 13 tour dates, Down was put on hold for members to return to their respective bands. Regrouping in 2001 to record the more diverse "Down II" album, the band followed with touring both on ozzfest and individually in the summer of 2002. The band was then once more put on hold, as Anselmo wished to focus his efforts on Superjoint Ritual, also featuring Jimmy Bower on guitar. It was been reported that all members are interesting in getting back together, though the effects of Hurricane Katrina may come to be an obstacle.
Drummer, Jimmy Bower, has recently stated that a new Down album hopefully will appear in 2006.
