He mainly plays a 4-string electric bass, but has played a 12-string bass before, on King's X's earlier tours. He provides the lead vocals for the band, but the other members chime in with him at times. His vocals are very soulful and add a lot to the sound of the band. When he is not in King's X, he's jamming in his solo project, Poundhound, which has released two albums, Massive Grooves From The Electric Church Of Psychofunkadelic Grungelism Rock Music and Pineappleskunk, with King's X drummer Jerry Gaskill on drums. He dropped the Poundhound moniker for his latest album, Emotional Animal (August 2, 2005), instead crediting himself as "dUg Pinnick." The album features Gaskill's son, Joy, on drums.
