Derek Grant is the current drummer for punk band Alkaline Trio, where he replaced Mike Felumlee. He has previously been a member of The Suicide Machines, Telegraph, Thoughts of Ionesco, Remainder, and Broken Spoke, a side band with Royce Nunley and Jay Navarro. Besides playing the drums, Grant is an accomplished guitarist and singer, and briefly toured with Face to Face as the bands guitarist. In addition, he frequently joins bassist Dan Andriano and guitarist Matt Skiba on vocals and also with songwriting duties.

He is also a regular fill in drummer for Josh Freese and has played for him on many Vandals Tours.
