The Decepticonz were a ska-punk band performing in the early '90s with a large following in the Washington, DC/Northern VA area. The band was part of the resurgence of ska and ska-core groups of that era, following in the footsteps of bands such as MU330, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and the also local Pietasters. The Decepticonz comprised a rotating group of 7-8 members from the NOVA area, with an original make-up of musicians from the Arlington-based Yorktown High School, many of whom were members of the YHS marching band. Lead guitarist Jorge Pezzimenti, who has since gone on to a thriving performance and composing career particularly with the still-active Pietasters, was mainly responsible for writing songs for the band, which included 'hits' such as "Chicken Wing," "Sandra" and "Crazy Sign Lady" - the subjects of which were often drawn from the colorful characters that decorated life in Arlington, VA.

The Decepticonz performed frequently in the DC/Northern Virginia era, as well as on the tour circuit among various VA colleges and elsewhere. The group released 3 albums, including their latest, the seminal "Rot Your Brain" on the Too Hep label.
