Before coming out onto the solo music scene in 1999, he was supporting guitarist and keyboardist for the Simpletons, the Lucksmiths, the Deerhunters, and Mick Thomas. Darren Hanlon is an Australian singer/songwriter who plays folk-rock and folk-pop. He has released two solo albums, one EP and a two singles through the record label Candle Records. He also has made three video clips of his songs "Hiccups", "A to Z" and "The Unmade Bed" (the last being directed by the winning 2005 Tropfest director, Luke Eve).

Darren (or endearingly known as Daz) is known for his engagement with his audiences, through his down to earth storytelling at live gigs as well as his often charming lyrics. He has toured with the likes of Billy Bragg and the Violent Femmes.
