Da Bush Babees are members of the late 1980s to early-mid 1990s rap alliance known as the Native Tongues Posse. They consisted of 3 MCs 1.Babe-Face Kaos 2.Y-Tee 3.Mister Man who all grew up in the West Indies countries of Jamaica and Trinidad. Because of this reggae was a strong inspiration to their early years; hip-hop also figures in. Meeting each other in the New York borough of Brooklyn they went ahead and formed in 1992 when Mister Man saw Kaos perform. The two began collaborating, after this Mister Man suggested adding a reggae toaster, Y-Tee joined da Bush Babees. When their concert dates sparked major-label interest, the trio performed a few live office auditions and signed with Reprise, within three months of launching the band. Their debut, Ambushed (1994), featured production from Jermaine Dupri, Nikke Nikole, J. Prince Matteus, Mark Batson, Salaam Gibbs, and the group itself. Other releases included 1995's Remember We. Gravity which was released in 1996 was the group's first underground and commercial success.
