Culture Beat is a German Eurodance act fronted by lead singer Tania Evans and Jay Supreme and produced by Torsten Fenslau (d. November 6, 1993 in a car accident, age 29). Culture Beat is best known for the European dance hit "Mr Vain." Lana Earl also known as Lana E. was the first singer for the group, Tania Evans replaced her in 1993, thus being featured on all of the group's most well-known hits. Other members of the act included composer/guitarist Juergen "Nosie" Katzmann and keyboardist Peter Zweier.
The idea for the group started on the dance floor of the discotheque Dorian Gray where Torsten Fenslau worked as a DJ. The group was founded in 1989 by accident, when Der Erdbeermund became a big hit in Europe.
