Commander Venus was a band, started by Conor Oberst in Omaha, Nebraska in 1994, when he was only 14. Commander Venus consisted of Conor Oberst, Tim Kasher, Todd Baechle and Robb Nansel. The band released two albums: Do you feel at home? (1995) and Uneventful Vacation (1997). The band was under the label Lumberjack Records later known as Saddle Creek Records and New Yorks Wind-Up Records.

The group is now defunct. All of the members have moved on to other projects. The side projects are as follows: Conor Oberst started Bright Eyes and a rock band called Desaparecidos. Tim Kasher formed Cursive and The Good Life. Todd Baechle is now the lead singer of The Faint and Robb Nansel (who once dreamed of becoming a rock star) now runs Saddle Creek Records.
