Chitra Singh is a famous Ghazal singer. Her husband Jagjit Singh is also a Ghazal singer and they formed one of the most popular duet teams in Ghazals. The couple is considered as pioneers in modern ghazal singing. Chitra singh (Née Dutta), born in a Bengali family had no formal musical traing but had strong roots of music in her family and learnt much of er music by listening to her mother's guru.

Chitra singh met Jagjit singh in Bombay and both used to sing jingles for various ads, and thus started a career together. Their career as a group took off with the lanching of the Unforgettables, the album which had several firsts to its credits, revolutionised the concept of Ghazal ghayaki, which until now was confined to mehfils and elite of the society.
