Bree Sharp is a Philadelphia-born singer and songwriter influenced by folk, rock, and pop. Her debut album, A Cheap and Evil Girl (1999) contained the popular novelty tune, "David Duchovny." The tough and funny song in which she crooned "David Duchovny, why won't you love me?" is an enduring anthem of celebrity worship, as well as a tribute to the famous X-Files star.

Bree Sharp was born in Philadelphia, PA and learned to play guitar by age 15. By 17 she had moved to New York City to study theater at New York University (NYU). She would eventually turn to music and while in college began writing the songs that eventually lead to her record deal with Trauma Records in 1998.
