Blue October is a Texas indie rock band originally from Houston. The group has developed a rather large following in the Southwest and frequently draws sellout crowds.

Blue October was dropped by Universal Records after the release of Consent to Treatment in 2000 and was re-signed by the same label in 2003. Ironically, the band's third album History for Sale — which was re-released on Universal — is largely a response to the control the label placed on the group during the Consent to Treatment production process.
