The Beasts of Bourbon are a sort of Australian "Indie Supergroup". Formed in the early 1980s, their original lineup included Spencer P. Jones (The Johnnies), Tex Perkins (Tex Deadly & The Dum Dums) and Boris Sudjovic (The Scientists).

A first album, The Axeman's Jazz was a excursion into deranged Gothic country and western, with a strong sense of irony and irreverence toward country music's cliches. A cover of "Psycho" was a hit on alternative radio.
