Anorexia Nervosa is a French black metal band.

Anorexia was born in the middle of the 90s on the ashes of a death metal band called Necromancia. The original lineup was the following: Stefan Bayle (guitar), Marc Zabé (guitar), Pier Couquet (bass), Nilcas Vant (drums) and Stéphane Gerbaud (vocals). They began by playing indus music mixed with their metal roots. They soon produced a demo called "Nihil Negativum" in october of 1995 and two years later their first album "Exile". In 1998 the group changed its lineup to welcome RMS Hreidmarr (vocals) and Neb Xort (keyboard). The change reflected in their music: they developed a very violent and frantic music. They released an EP called "Sodomizing the Archedangel" and soon after their second album "Drudenhaus". The subsequent tour, particularly some dates with Cradle of Filth gave them access to a larger audience. The lyrics are decadent and odd and made of different languages (French, German, English, Latin). Their third album "New Obscurantis Order" (2001) was a bit different due to slower tempos but still violent. The general feeling given by this release was of a "cold" disc. In 2004 they released their fourth album: "Redemption Process" which was considered as a mix between their two precedent discs.
