Cubanate is an industrial band from London, founded in 1992 by Marc Heal and Phil Barry with Graham Rayner and Steve Etheridge. It is known for its early fusion of distorted metal guitars, and techno percussion (later incorporating breakbeats) with industrial electronics and vocals. Their creative peak is generally considered to be the single "Oxyacetylene" (1994) which was later used as the theme tune of the Sony PlayStation game Gran Turismo.
Cubanate played their first UK tour in November 1992 with Sheep On Drugs. Graham Rayner and Steve Etheridge left shortly after the first single, "Body Burn" (1993) to be briefly replaced by Julian Beeston (ex - Nitzer Ebb drummer) before Heal and Barry decided to continue as a duo.
